Just to let everyone know, there is a new documentary airing on HBO this month about the election of President Barack Obama. During the film, there are several interviews with Dave Axelrod who was Obama's campaign manager.

You may recall in our favorite movie that during the Tiger Shark scene ("a what???") on the dock, Meadows is seen telling his assistant that he wants to go AP and UPI and tells her to call Dave Axelrod in New York. "Tell him he owes me a favor".

In case you haven't heard of him other than Jaws, check out the documentary. It's pretty good actually. And you can see who Dave Axelrod is.

I do Not think it is the same Dave Axelrod. He was only born in 1955 so he was 19 or 20 when Jaws was filmed and in college at the University of Chicago.

I didn't either Lou until I heard Gottlieb talk about him in an interview or in a book somewhere. There is also a David Axelrod who is a musician but I know this is the guy.

He played a HUGE role in Obama getting elected last year. He was kind of a "kid-genius" in the early 70's and I believe he and Gottlieb worked together.

I'm still jealous of your Dreyfuss story....but extremely happy for you and Yana. How cool. I can't get over it.

Is this really the same Dave Axelrod mentioned in Jaws?

I remember an interview with Gottlieb where he mentiions Axelrod in NYC and I'm convinced this is the guy. Has the background in newpaper media and I think he and Carl knew each other.

I'll have to find that interview but I know I didn't dream it. I thought he mentioned it in his Jaws Log book but Axelrod is not mentioned in the back index. I'll have to go through it again.

I'll let you know what I find.
